The Argentine rally was divided into 18 stages over four days, in a dry weather that is preferred by pilots. On the second day until stage 8, Jari Latvala led with a lead of ten seconds on Hayden and third placed Sebastian Ogier. On the third day all was well until stage 14 when Jari hit a rock, flipped the car and so missed the chance of the second straight win in the league, the better for Hayden that besides leader, now had an advantage of almost thirty seconds for the second placed Sebastian.
The fourth and final day was enough Hayden manage the lead, but on stage 17 Hayden's caution was so great that Sebastian Ogier took all the difference being less than a second behind the leader. Until the power stage (the last special of the day), Hayden rose again the difference in fourteen seconds to Sebastian, and so won the Argentine rally for the first time.
Remember that Andreas Mikelsen (Norway) Volkswagen was 3rd, Dani Sordo (Spain) Hyundai 4th, Mads Ostberg (Norway) Ford was the 5th and Thierry Neuville (Belgium) Hyundai in 6th.
